An Entrance with a Sense of PresenceThanks to Custom LitePad

Plus Architecture was commissioned to design a new entrance canopy to give the Bloodstone building, a Central Quay office building in Dublin’s Docklands, an improved identity and street presence.

The Bloodstone Building before its renovation

The existing entrance to the building lacked a sense of presence at street level. Plus Architecture, working closely with a team from Arup in Ireland, chose Rosco Custom LitePads to enhance the entryway. The design teams at Arup-Ireland and Plus Architecture worked with Rosco Architectural to ensure that the detailing and finished structure of the LitePads met their aspirations.

The design for the new entryway of the Bloodstone Building

According to the design plan, the concept for the canopy design was “to create a sense of presence with an entrance canopy structure that incorporates colour, height, lighting and bespoke branding.” To bring the concept to life, 2800K Custom LitePad HO90’s were mounted behind a circular-patterned grille in the ceiling of the entryway, while others were used to backlight the company’s name & logo.

LitePads create a warm inviting entryway and illuminate the Bloodstone name & logo

Senior Project Engineer for Arup Ireland, Mark Reilly, comments “The design team opted for Rosco’s NEW LitePad HO90 due to its slim 8mm depth, because of the lack of space available for the façade lighting equipment. The low-voltage LED light source provided even, indirect illumination, and each panel was flexible enough to be customised to the specific size requirements of each application. The full dimming control of the LitePad HO90 made sure the solution not only met the high light level requirements of the client, but it also worked within the budget and schedule constraints of the project.”
