Illuminating YYZ with RGBW RoscoLED® Tape

The next time you arrive at the International Arrivals gate inside Terminal 1 of Toronto's Pearson International Airport you’ll be greeted by a large YYZ sign of Toronto's airport code that is illuminated by RoscoLED Tape VariColor.

Constructed by Burlington Signs, the 4’ high letters sit atop a 2’ platform welcoming passengers at the foot of the exit ramp from the Arrivals Hall. The Steel, Aluminum and Plexiglass construction is illuminated by ten, 5m reels of RoscoLED Tape Varicolor – RGBW+CW that are wired up to four RoscoLED 5-Channel DMX Decoders, which are conveniently hidden inside the base of the letters with an Artnet DMX interface. It’s all controlled by the Luminair app on a nearby iPad that allows the crews to change the color of the letters and program pre-scheduled color-changing sequences.

The RoscoLED Tape was assembled, installed and programmed inside the sign much in the same manner as it was inside the iconic TORONTO sign and the CANADA 150 signs that graced every major Canadian city throughout the country’s Centenary celebrations. Shortly after the RoscoLED Tape was installed and programmed, the new YYZ letters were placed inside Terminal 1 at Toronto Pearson Airport.
