The Outstanding Production Design nominations for the 73rd Annual Emmy Awards have been announced. We are thrilled that Rosco Backdrops played a role in so many of the projects nominated for 2021 Production Design Emmy Awards. The list below highlights the filmmakers that worked with our Rosco Digital Imaging team to create the background imagery for their projects.

HALSTONOutstanding Production Design For A Narrative Period Or Production Designer: Mark Ricker The production design team used a 200’ long Custom Day/Night SoftDrop to re-create 1980s Midtown Manhattan for this period limited series on Netflix. PERRY MASONOutstanding Production Design For A Narrative Period Or Production Designer: John Goldsmith Three Custom Day/Night SoftDrops were used on this set. Two of them created the front and back yard for a rural, 1930s, residential setting. MARE OF EASTTOWNOutstanding Production Design For A Narrative Production Designer: Keith P. Cunningham The filmmakers used three Custom SoftDrops and a selection of Rental Backdrops to create the suburban and the working-class commercial areas needed for their Easttown set design. THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTOutstanding Production Design For A Narrative Production Designer: Sara K White This series about a globe-trotting flight attendant used Several Custom SoftDrops to establish their locations. The filmmakers used them to re-create Bangkok, Rome, and the exterior of Cassie’s NYC apartment on their soundstage. THE HANDMAID'S TALEOutstanding Production Design For A Narrative Production Designer: Elisabeth Williams For season four of the popular Hulu series, the filmmakers used three Custom Day/Night SoftDrops to create the backgrounds for their upscale, Gilead set designs. Two of the drops used the same background image, but we worked with the production design team to digitally alter the image in order to create both a summer and winter setting. Rosco also supplied a Gilead SoftDrop for their season three set design, which you can read about in this Rosco Spectrum Blog article. |
THE UNDOINGOutstanding Production Design For A Narrative Contemporary Program Production Designer: Lester Cohen Two Custom SoftDrops were used to create New York City outside of the windows of their set designs.
