Experiment blending together the Umbers and Siennas to create any natural wood tones needed for painting wood floors and wood trim in the house.
To make faux wallpaper, begin by painting a Sky Blue base coat on the walls. Then apply the wallpaper design by painting over a damask stencil with the White.
Blend a little Orange into the Deep Red to create a base color for your bricks. Then mix Raw Sienna into the Deep Red to create a lighter version. Use that mix and the Burnt Sienna as highlight & shadow colors for the faces and edges of the bricks. Dry brush on patches of Burnt Umber and Yellow Ochre to create areas of scorching/discoloration. Use Rosco Tough Prime and Rosco Flexbond™ to create 3D bricks. First, tint the Tough Prime White with a small amount of Raw Umber to create a base color for the mortar. Apply this mix to the entire brick area, then spatter with darker and lighter tones of the base color to add flecks of texture into the mortar.
Once the mortar layer is dry, tape out your mortar pattern, and then create the bricks using a mixture of sand + Rosco FlexBond. Apply over taped-out brick pattern and let dry, then paint the bricks using the colors described in the Scenic Paint Palette above. Learn more.
Carving foam is an excellent way to create lightweight beams. Rosco FoamCoat is an excellent way to protect the carving and to prime the foam for painting. You can even tint the FoamCoat with your initial basecoat color, and use a woodgrain tool to give the foam a three-dimensional texture.

Use E246, R07, and R3208 to create Jo’s world in New York, a cold almost lifeless scene that will soon change as she starts to reflect on her time home.
A combination of E161, R16, and R33 can be used to create the warm, bright, and lively world of Jo’s hometown. This color mix will help take the audience on an adventure through Jo’s past.
Use the E201, E708 and the combination of R16+78227 Broken Weave gobo to create a shadowy and dark world where Jo’s stories can come alive.

No room to build an actual “Post Office Tree” on stage? No problem. Simply project these gobos from Stage Left or Right – as if the sun was casting the tree’s shadow through a window into the house – to give the indication that the tree is just off stage. Use the G527 + E201 for the winter scenes, and the leafy G523 + R88 for the other scenes.
Combine the R78227 Broken Weave gobo with the R16 to create an otherworldly environment on stage for Jo to tell her stories.
